The hotel was perfectly fine with marvellous location just off bus station, Pompeii and the nearby sights, and the trains to other parts of Italy, including the Circumvesuviana trains to Pompeii and Herculaneum. The view was exceptional, the service was terrific❤

Helful and friendly staff. Hotel situated close to train, underground station, and Piazza, this make it easy to travel to other areas such as Sorrento, Pompei etc. Piazza very busy during the day with flea market but pleasant at the same time.

This hotel is very close to Naples Central station and the cost is very affordable. But that area was full of street sellers and packed with a lot of people and small buildings, it was very hard for me to find the hotel. I didn't find any major problem with the hotel itself during the stay. The condition of the room and the bathroom was OK.
When I checked in, the clark who helped me was hardly able to speak English. But when I checked out, the other clark spoke English. So it depends on the time if you can talk with them in English or not. The breakfast was kind of poor. You can only get one kind of hard bread, cheese, clackers, yogurt, juice and coffee.

Ideal location for those who like to travel in and around Naples: near to the railway station and city bus stop. The staff is all friendly and helpful. Don't forget to try lemon cake when you find it at breakfast!
This is not hotel's fault but you need to know that the Piazza Garibladi is not ideal for those who prefer "quiet " stay: It is always crowded and noisy, though I enjoyed the real Neapolitan life. The tv system is complicated and delicate. E... Sig. Maurizio, un cappuccino subitooooo (scherzo) !!

We found Hotel Clarean to be somewhat quirky (the owner having a fry up with his mate in the dining room late at night; an excited discussion in the reception area), but it was clean, well located near the station (approx. 150 metres away), and it offered all the amenities needed. At the time we visited it had scaffolding all over the front of the building so the view from the room was restricted, but normally it would look out over the piazza, to provide an interesting view of Neapolitan life. Although we walked around at night we felt no threat whatsoever ... perhaps we were lucky, but probably most people have no problems. All in all, we liked it and it was certainly good value and convenient!
1) Occasional noise from the reception area floated up the stairs (note: there is also an elevator). This was more of an issue than street noise - there was almost none of this due to good double glazed windows.2) We arrived at night and the hotel room looked a lot older than we had expected. In the morning we realised that this was because of the 'wash effect' paint used on the walls. In daylight the room looked modern and attractive, though there seem to be some issues as there were little patches of white on the walls. Perhaps it will all be repainted in a non-wash paint by the time you arrive!
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
